I Can't Find the Plugin in My DAW After Installation
If you're unable to find your Linear Sounds plugin in your DAW after installation, here are common troubleshooting steps tailored to specific DAWs. This problem can occur when you haven't activated your plugin through iLok License Manager. Follow these guides to ensure your plugins are properly scanned and activated.
Logic Pro:
- Open the Plug-in Manager from Logic Pro's preferences.
- Locate the plugin in the list. To filter by manufacturer, click the manufacturer's name in the left column.
- If the Compatibility column shows "failed validation":
- Select the plugin and click Reset & Rescan Selection.
- If it says "not authorized":
- Ensure the plugin is properly authorized and rescan it.
- If the plugin still doesn't appear, try resetting all Audio Units.
Ableton Live:
macOS:
- Open Ableton Live and go to Preferences > Plug-Ins.
- Ensure the following settings are enabled:
- Use Audio Units (for AU plugins)
- Use VST3 Plug-In System Folder
- To reset the blocklist:
- Hold Option/Alt and click Rescan in the Plug-Ins tab
- Allow the rescan to complete. Your plugins should now appear.
Windows:
- Open Ableton Live and go to Preferences > Plug-Ins.
- Enable Use VST2 Plug-In Custom Folder or Use VST3 (as applicable).
- Browse to the installation folder, typically: C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins
- To reset the blocklist:
- Hold Option/Alt and click Rescan
- Allow the rescan to complete. Your plugins should now appear.
Pro Tools:
macOS:
- Quit Pro Tools.
- Open Finder and press ⌘⇧G (Go > Go to Folder).
- Enter the following path and press Enter: ~/Library/Preferences/Avid/Pro Tools/
- Delete the InstalledAAXPlugIns file.
- Relaunch Pro Tools to initiate a full plugin rescan.
Windows:
- Quit Pro Tools.
- Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Users\
\AppData\Roaming\Avid\Pro Tools\ - Delete the InstalledAAXPlugIns file.
- Relaunch Pro Tools to rescan plugins.
Cubase:
- Open the Blocklist tab in Cubase.
- Select the plugin you want to reactivate.
- Note: 32-bit plugins cannot be reactivated.
- Click Reactivate.
- Restart Cubase. If needed, click Rescan All in the VST3 Plug-in Path Settings and restart the DAW.
FL Studio:
- Open FL Studio and go to Options > Manage Plugins.
- Click Find Installed Plugins in the Plugin Manager window.
- Ensure the following options are checked:
- Rescan previously verified plugins
- Rescan plugins with errors
- The plugin should appear after the rescan completes.
Studio One:
If the plugin doesn't appear in Studio One, it may be blocked. Follow these steps to reset the blocklist:
- Navigate to Preferences > Locations > VST Plug-Ins.
- Ensure the directory listed matches the installation path of your plugin. By default, the VST folder is:
- Windows: C:\Program Files\Vstplugins
- Mac: VST folders are preconfigured.
- Click the Reset Blocklist button and confirm the pop-up message.
- Enable Scan at startup.
- Restart Studio One. The plugin should be rescanned and appear. If prompted, complete the activation process.
If you've followed these steps and still don't see your plugin, verify the installation path and ensure you've installed the correct version for your system (VST3, AU, or AAX). Feel free to contact Linear Sounds support for further assistance.
